Belgian paratriathlete Wim de Paep won the bronze medal in the paratriathlon race held in Devonport, Australia, on Saturday morning, Belgium time. The Devonport Sprint Triathlon was the first round of the World Triathlon World Championships, the highest level for paratriathletes. With an impressive third place in Devonport, qualification for Paris is getting closer for Wim de Pape. He is currently ranked fifth in the World Para Triathlon Rankings in the PTS2 category.
The top nine Paralympic ranked players in the PTS2 category, athletes who have had a leg amputated, can compete for Paralympic medals in Paris. Wim de Pape, who is firmly in fifth place, is one of the favorites for the medal. The difference with American star Mark Barr was still large in Australia, but the battle for silver and bronze was very exciting, especially after the 20-kilometre cycling race. In the end, the Spanish runner Leonel Morales was 29 seconds faster, but Wim de Papi once again proved that he is capable of achieving ambitions for Paris.
