The North Holland Wish Ambulance Foundation is already granting a record number of wishes before the end of the year. Already before Christmas, about 120 wishes of terminally ill people have been fulfilled. In 2022 there were 111.
According to wish coordinator Erik Rolfsema, the foundation has never granted so many wishes since its founding in 2009. So 2023 is already seeing record numbers and the year is not over yet.
I hope for an ambulance
The Wish Ambulance North Holland Foundation helps terminally ill patients in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe fulfill their last wishes. This way they can say goodbye to life in their own unique way. People often go to a special place or event to experience a special day in this way.
This concerns people who have to be transported while lying down for medical reasons. To fulfill wishes, the Foundation has its own ambulance and about seventy volunteers. In daily life, they mainly work as ambulance drivers or nurses/caregivers. Volunteers channel these wishes and do so in addition to their work or pension.
The ambulance will also be coming to the 112th Groningen Day next year!!
