There is a lot to talk about to follow The GMC Hummer EV debuts Tuesday. GMC says this electric giant produces 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque (Which is very misleading), Which allows the Hummer EV to accelerate to 60 mph in just 3 seconds. They are very fast people, and it is achievable thanks to the oddly named Watts Truck to put to freedom.
GMC describes Whats2 Freedom as “an immersive, driver-choice experience that unleashes the full acceleration potential of the EV propulsion system.” In other words, it’s launch control. Choosing Watts to Freedom reduces Hummer’s ride height by 2 inches and puts the three-motor electric propulsion system in full attack.
Given the massive size of the Hummer EV, 3 seconds from 0 to 60 times is no small feat. For comparison, the Tesla Model X with Ludicrous Mode will reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds from the manufacturer, but this is a much smaller car.
We can’t help but think of the Watts name to Freedom. Playing on “WTF” is obvious, but we’re assuming the suits at GM wouldn’t allow this person to fly without a back name.
Whats to Freedom is just one of a number of nifty tricks the GMC Hummer E has up its sleeve. The large electric van also has a CrabWalk all-wheel drive function and the latest version of GM’s Super Cruise driver assistance technology. You can read all about the new Hummer EV here.
